Cattle Dogs

Our dogs mean the world to us here at Mile 57 Farms, they are members of our family and we treasure each one of them. We strive to raise loving, smart, devoted, family friendly Cattle Dogs who are suited for both companion and working homes. Our puppies are raised in our home with lots of loving care and they are able to get used to all the hustle and bustle. All our puppies will have the Bio Sensor Stimulation done from 3-16 days old that is also known as the "Super Dog" Program. It provides neurological stimulation for the puppies at a very young age that they would normally not be exposed to. This program was developed by the U.S. Military for their canine litters and provides the following 5 benefits:

1. Improved cardio vascular performance (heart rate)

2. Stronger heart beats

3. Stronger adrenal glands

4. More tolerance to stress

5. Greater resistance to disease

At about 3 weeks of age we will begin potty training the puppies using the Misty Method to make it easier for the new families to house train their new puppy when they take them home. The puppies will also be left with their mother until 8 weeks of age to teach them about dog to dog behaviour which will help to prevent many behavioural problems when the puppy grows up. However this does not replace socialization with other dogs, people or situations that they will need when they go to their new homes. The puppies will be vet checked, dewormed, micro-chipped and given their first set of vaccines before placed in their new homes. Each puppy will also be sent home with a puppy package including: food, treats, a toy, a leash/collar, a blanket that smells like mom and litter mates and 30 days of pet insurance with Trupanion.

These puppies are high energy and are best suited for active families. The heeler breed is known for being very devoted to their people, which earned them the nickname "Velcro" dog, because they love nothing more than following you around all day. The worst punishment a heeler can receive is not getting to spend time with you, therefore a home where someone is home all day or most of the day is ideal. Heelers are a highly intelligent breed and therefore need a "job" to do, whether that be: herding, agility, fly ball, hiking, running, swimming, etc, anything that gets them out and moving but also uses their brains. Once old enough I take the puppies for an hour-long walk twice a day on our ranch, in order to expose them to lots of different things. The puppies love to climb, jump, dig, run and play.

We love each of our puppies and therefore we have a little different process for placing them in their forever homes. First, all prospective families will have to complete a short questionnaire and if we believe you would be a potentially suitable home we will contact you to arrange a meet and greet. We encourage all members of your family including your other dogs come to this meeting so we can get a feel as to whether your family and the puppy you are interested in are a good fit. Once the meet and greet is over and you would like to continue with the adoption of the puppy we ask that both sides take the night to sleep on it so that everyone can be sure they still feel the same way the next day and nothing is done impulsively for a cute face. We hold the right to refuse any family if we feel they would not be the best home for the puppy. Also if multiple families are interested in the same puppy we will make the decision as to which family will be the best fit for the puppy. All puppies will be sold to approved forever homes with a signed contract. If you have any questions feel free to contact us and we will be happy to answer them.
